Open Novel

Several years ago, I decided to start a project that would allow me to both write a novel and publish it without going through a publisher. Today there are many ways of self-publishing, but none as interactive as publishing a novel online is blog format. The serialized release of a story was big when newspapers where the main source of information. Now with the blog, Twitter, Facebook and many more community based information sharing mechanisms, I think its time we see a novel written online. There are several approaches that can be taken in this endevor. Options range from closed publishing where I write and you read to open publishing where I write, you read and comment and I maybe rewrite based on your comments. I haven’t determined how open to change I want this process, but since the name of the site is Open Novel, I think I”m leaning to letting the readers have a larger part in crafting the final edition of the story. Well, here it goes. Oh, and by the way, I may bring in other authors to help along the way. Well see how this goes and maybe this will turn into a fad of sorts.
